Vakilnama is a handbook on civil litigation practice in India, told through a fictional dispute and fictional characters. Its advocates, judges, litigants, courts and cases are invented. Any resemblance to a real person, living or dead, or to a real case or court, is coincidental. Characters and situations are deliberately exaggerated for the sake of the story.
It is a narrative teaching text, not a textbook, commentary or digest, and it is not a substitute for reading the legislation, rules, notifications and judgments that apply to your matter.
Nothing in Vakilnama is legal advice or a legal opinion on any person, dispute or transaction, and reading it creates no advocate–client relationship. A lawyer using the book remains solely responsible for their own professional judgment and for verifying the law that applies to the matter in hand.
No pleading, application, format or procedure shown in the book is guaranteed to be accepted by any court or registry. Procedure differs between courts and can change without notice.
