This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, disclose, retain, and protect your Personal Data when you use our websites, applications, APIs, and related services.
Where consent is required under applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), we obtain such consent through clear affirmative action before processing your Personal Data.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the DPDP Act, Google’s API Services User Data Policy (including the Limited Use requirements), and other applicable laws.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services governed by their own privacy policies.
Personal Data means any data about an identifiable individual.
Processing includes collection, storage, organisation, retrieval, use, disclosure, deletion or any operation performed on Personal Data.
Data Principal has the meaning assigned under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Google User Data means information received from Google APIs after you authorise CaseLinx to connect to your Google account.
Firm Data means case information, client records, documents, notes, billing information, calendar events and other professional information entered into CaseLinx.
We may collect:
We may automatically collect:
Payments are processed through authorised payment providers.
Vakilpedia does not store complete debit card numbers, credit card numbers, banking credentials or UPI PINs.
CaseLinx allows users to connect their Google account to enable secure authentication and productivity features.
We request only the permissions necessary to provide those features.
We use your Google account information solely to:
CaseLinx requests the drive.file permission.
This allows CaseLinx only to:
CaseLinx cannot browse or access the remainder of your Google Drive.
CaseLinx requests permission to create and manage calendar events relating to your legal practice.
CaseLinx does not analyse your personal calendar history.
VakilCard offers an optional Google Calendar connection so that clients booking an appointment are shown only the times you are genuinely free. This connection is entirely optional; VakilCard is fully usable without it, and you may disconnect it at any time from your dashboard.
We state the following plainly, because the permission Google grants is broader than the use we make of it. When you connect your calendar, Google’s consent screen asks you to authorise viewing and editing events on all of your calendars (the calendar.events scope). That is the access Google grants to VakilCard.
What VakilCard actually does with it is narrower. It queries Google’s free/busy service, which returns only the time ranges in which you are busy. It does not read the titles, descriptions, locations, attendees, or any other contents of your appointments, and it does not store your calendar events. Those busy ranges are used for one purpose: to remove already-occupied times from the slots offered to a prospective client.
If VakilCard is later extended to write a confirmed appointment into your calendar, that will be a change in use and will be disclosed here and in the product before it takes effect. We do not use Google Calendar data for advertising, for training machine-learning models, or for any purpose other than the feature you enabled it for.
Google Workspace APIs are used solely to provide features requested by users.
Google Workspace data is never used:
CaseLinx’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with Google’s API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
For details, please refer to the Google API Services User Data Policy.
We process Personal Data for purposes including:
Where advocates or law firms upload Personal Data relating to clients, witnesses, employees or other individuals, the advocate or law firm remains responsible for ensuring they possess the lawful authority to process such information.
Vakilpedia processes such information only to provide the services requested by the user.
CaseLinx is designed for legal professionals.
We recognise that information processed through the platform may include privileged legal communications and confidential client information.
Except where necessary to provide the requested services, respond to authorised support requests, investigate security incidents, or comply with applicable law, Vakilpedia does not access, review or disclose such information.
AI features operate only when expressly invoked by the user.
Vakilpedia does not use:
to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
CaseLinx does not currently integrate any third-party artificial intelligence or machine learning service. No Google user data — including Google Drive file contents, Google Drive metadata, and Google Calendar events — is ever transmitted to, processed by, or shared with any third-party AI or machine learning service, whether for inference, processing, or training.
If AI features are introduced in the future, they will be strictly user-triggered, will operate with complete and auditable data isolation, and will never use Google user data to create, train, or improve foundational or generalized AI or machine learning models, in accordance with the Limited Use requirements of the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy.
AI-generated outputs are informational only and do not constitute legal advice.
We may share Personal Data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the platform, including cloud infrastructure providers, payment processors, authentication providers, analytics providers and communication service providers.
Such providers process data only on our behalf and only for providing the requested services.
We do not disclose privileged attorney-client communications or confidential legal documents to these providers except to the extent technically necessary for secure hosting, storage, transmission or processing of the services you have requested.
We do not sell Personal Data.
Certain authorised service providers may process data outside India.
Where applicable, Vakilpedia implements reasonable contractual and technical safeguards consistent with applicable law.
We implement reasonable security measures including:
No security system can guarantee absolute protection.
Personal Data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services or comply with legal obligations.
